Fury Over ICE Jail Giant Handing $1M to Trump Amid Fight for Contracts

A private prison giant that runs a sprawling network of ICE jails has sparked allegations of “corruption” after it funneled $1 million to a Donald Trump-aligned fund for the midterms, PunchUp and Migrant Insider can reveal.
The timing of GEO Group’s donation has set off alarm bells—it came just as news broke that the company was about to lose out on lucrative contracts.
In the first five months of fiscal 2026 alone, the immigration detention center monolith held more than $1 billion in obligated ICE contracts, an OpenSecrets analysis found, placing it second only to CSI Aviation among the agency’s top vendors.
The seven-figure payment from its subsidiary, GEO Reentry Services LLC, was recorded as received by MAGA Inc. on March 9—the same day The Washington Post reported that the Trump administration had frozen the parent company out of $426 million in new ICE contracts. GEO Group has not received any new contracts since.
The Post also revealed that Department of Homeland Security officials had been privately pressuring GEO to slash prices on its existing contracts by 15 percent. By the end of the day, GEO’s core business model had been publicly called into question—the latest in a cascade of bad news that had seen the company’s share price lose more than half its value from its post-election peak, and it underwent a change at the top.
While federal law bars contractors from donating directly to federal candidates or super PACs, GEO Group has long relied on a loophole, routing money through corporate subsidiaries that do not hold government contracts, and has done so for around a decade.
Democratic lawmakers told PunchUp and Migrant Insider that the donation stunk to high heaven.

Massachusetts Rep. Jim McGovern said, “The corruption in this administration is beyond anything I could possibly describe. This is the most corrupt administration in history. It makes Richard Nixon look like a Boy Scout.”
Arizona Rep. Adelita Grijalva said, “It’s another clear indication that this administration is corrupt and the people they are supporting are corrupt. If they are giving that much money in donations to Republican campaigns and Republican candidates, how much money are they getting from this administration?”
A third, California Rep. Robert Garcia, said lawmakers are already scrutinizing DHS contracts for signs of improper schemes, adding: “Anything that relates to ICE or DHS, there’s an enormous amount of corruption.”
Garcia is a ranking member of the House Oversight Committee, which is examining allegations of corruption in DHS contracts awarded under former Secretary Kristi Noem, 54, and her chief aide and rumored lover, Corey Lewandowski, 52.

“There appears to be pay-to-play. We’ve heard that across DHS. So any form of contracting that happens at DHS, all that has got to be investigated. It’s really serious. The corruption happening at the detention centers, besides the inhumanity, we are looking at, at Oversight,” he said. The pair has denied any allegations of impropriety.
The donation appears in the March monthly disclosure filed last week by MAGA Inc., Trump’s flagship super PAC. It is one of just eight contributions the group reported for the entire month, with a small handful of donors splitting a combined $35.6 million, Bloomberg reported on Monday. MAGA Inc. now sits on roughly $348 million in cash heading into the midterms.
Not only do GEO Group’s short-term prospects look uneasy, but the midterms could also be crucial for its long-term future, as Democrats oppose many of ICE’s tactics, and a defeat could derail Trump’s plan to build mass detention centers.
“We need a big change in the midterms to be a check on this guy [Donald Trump], who is out of his mind, and get through another two years. But I have never seen anything quite as awful as we have seen with the Republicans and the Trump administration,” McGovern said.
“Their obsession with ICE and obsession with these security agencies that don’t give a damn about people’s civil liberties or human rights is disgusting.”

It’s not the first time GEO Group has contributed to supporting Trump. As far back as 2016, GEO Corrections Holdings, Inc.—another GEO subsidiary—sent $225,000 to a pro-Trump super PAC called Rebuilding America Now.
By Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington’s accounting, GEO, its corporate PAC, subsidiary GEO Acquisition II, and top executives collectively donated nearly $2 million to Trump’s 2024 campaign and inaugural fund.
And a February investigation by the Project On Government Oversight found GEO Group’s ICE revenue surged as the Trump administration awarded the company no-bid contracts and contract modifications over the past year.
A DHS spokesperson told PunchUp and Migrant Insider that ICE has had “a longstanding relationship and contracts with GEO Group—including during the Obama and Biden Administrations.” The White House and GEO did not respond for comment.

I used to take “due process” for granted as just part of who we are as fair Americans.
If GOP doesn’t like being called “Nazi” supporters then don’t defend people who act like SS Storm Troopers and set up camps for concentrating people without due process in a fair court and a lawyer
T Latchem: very correct. Under fascist dictator trump administration , the only rule is there are no rules and no one to enforce rules. The obligation is that to get any benefit, contract, service or participation in any government entity; you must first pay the dictator….very much a duplicate of Putin communist system. Not only do you pay the dictator but every chief of every level below the dictator. And we have a Republican ceremonial senate that like Graham voices their blessing upon this vile and corrupt system.
