The cruelty of Donald Trump’s mass deportation drive has been laid bare by newly released government data analyzed by PunchUp that reveals ICE detained a record number of people who were seriously ill or disabled, as well as scores of pregnant women.

In just the first seven months of Trump’s second term, beginning in January last year, ICE arrested 21 cancer patients, seven organ transplant recipients, at least 24 disabled people—including the blind, the deaf, and the paralyzed—and 130 expectant mothers.

Trump, 79, had repeatedly promised his second-term immigration program would target “the worst of the worst.”

The figures are drawn from 505,000 ICE I-213 forms released by The Guardian on Friday following litigation by the Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press, which encouraged other outlets to use them in their reporting.

Last week, PunchUp revealed that the same dataset shows ICE doubled its daily arrest rate the second Trump took the oath of office. Now, we can show how that surge in arrests led to vulnerable groups being targeted.
