Welcome to PunchUp, an exciting and unique new journalism platform that fights—and exposes—government and corporate overreach for the people, with the people.
As a veteran investigative journalist and broadcaster, I’ve spent 20 years working at major newspapers, radio, and TV outlets, investigating and exposing the rich and well-connected, and the secrets they hide.
But I’ve always been something of an outsider in the media industry. Dancing the beat of my own drum, speaking truth to power without fear or favor. Unwilling to play the corporate game. Calling out bad practice when others don’t.
It’s an (at times annoying) honesty that keeps me, well, honest.
I get a buzz punching up—finding out stuff people in positions of power would rather you didn’t know, exposing those truths, and pushing for accountability.
I don’t mess about—I am prolific, fearless, take no prisoners, and love a journalistic punch-up.
I also have a lot of fun doing it.
Now I have turned my fire onto the U.S. and the Trump administration.
As Lead Global Correspondent at the Daily Beast, I’ve covered Kristi Noem’s car-crash Department of Homeland Security—don’t worry, I’ll be following the new “ICE Plumber” guy, Markwayne Mullin, too—and the human fallout from Donald Trump’s mass deportation drive.
I’ve stood up for survivors through extensive reporting on the “Epstein Files” and exposed grasping politicians and shady influencers of all hues.
Power is too often abused. Each week brings a new outrage, a new grift, a new trick pulled that affects real lives.
PunchUp is for people who don’t buy the spin from governments or corporate boardrooms. It’s for those wanting to get into the ring with politicians and CEOs—and land a mark.
We’ll celebrate whistleblowers, amplify the overlooked, and embarrass those who abuse their privilege. Not with shouting, but with sources, documents, reporting, real talk, a bit of snark, and plenty of laughs.
This is bold, noisy, ethical journalism created by me—but for you, and (hopefully) with you. I’ll pull back the curtain to explain how my investigations come together, because transparency matters now more than ever.
Send me your story and investigation tips, and I will work closely with you to bring them to light—just like the old-school “ring-ins” at the British red-top newspapers where I once worked. After all, the best stories always start with someone brave enough to speak up.
If that all sounds like a bit of you, I need your support—so please subscribe, share, and get involved.
